Do's and Don'ts

Here are some do's and don'ts to keep in mind while visiting Fujairah:
Do's:
Do embrace the culture: The UAE has a rich culture and traditions. Visitors are encouraged to dress modestly, especially when visiting mosques or other religious sites. Women are not required to cover their heads, but it is respectful to cover your shoulders and knees.
Do explore the outdoors: Fujairah is known for its stunning natural beauty. Hike in the Hajar Mountains, go snorkeling or diving at Snoopy Island, or relax on the beaches of Al Aqah.
Do try the local cuisine: Emirati food is delicious and flavorful. Be sure to try dishes like machboos (a spiced rice dish with meat or seafood), luqaimat (sweet dumplings), and balaleet (a sweet vermicelli dish).
Do bargain at the souks: Haggling is expected at the souks (traditional marketplaces) in Fujairah. Be polite and respectful when negotiating prices.
Do learn a few basic Arabic phrases: A little Arabic goes a long way in Fujairah. Even just learning how to say hello (marhaba) and thank you (shukran) will be appreciated by the locals.
Don'ts:
Don't litter: The UAE takes littering very seriously. There are hefty fines for littering, so be sure to dispose of your trash properly.
Don't drink alcohol in public: Alcohol consumption is only allowed in licensed bars and restaurants in hotels.
Don't take photos of people without permission: It is always best to ask permission before taking photos of people, especially women.
Don't show public displays of affection (PDA): While public displays of affection are not illegal, it is best to avoid them out of respect for local customs.
Don't dress too revealingly: While swimwear is acceptable on the beach, it is best to cover up when you are out in public areas.
