Description

Al Hayl Castle, also known as Al Hayl Fort or Al Hayl Palace, is a historical site located in Wadi Al Hayl, southwest of Fujairah City, United Arab Emirates. Built around 1830, it served as a residence for the ruling family of Fujairah and played a role in defending the area. Today, it's managed by the Department of Antiquities and Heritage.

The castle is an excellent example of traditional Arabian architecture of the time, built with mud-brick and plaster. The site is comprised of a fortified residential compound and a separate defensive fort, Al Hayl Fort, located on a hilltop overlooking the area.

History:
Constructed around 1830, the castle served as a residence for the ruling family of Fujairah for several decades. It also had a defensive purpose, with its watchtower providing a strategic view of the surrounding area.
Structure:
Built from mud-bricks and plaster, the castle exemplifies traditional Arabian architecture. There's a central fortified courtyard surrounded by various chambers. The highlight is the wind towers, providing natural air conditioning.
Location:
Situated in Wadi Al Hayl, southwest of Fujairah City. The area can be reached via the Maliha-Fujairah highway (E84).

Opening Hours: The timings are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM (Saturday-Thursday), and 2:00 PM to 4:30 PM (Friday). There's no entrance fee.
