Telephone Calls

1. Country Code:
The UAE's international dialing code is +971. This is the prefix you need to dial when calling the UAE from another country.

2. Area Codes:
Area codes are one or two digits long and identify the specific emirate or region within the UAE. Here are some common examples:

Fujairah: 09
Abu Dhabi: 02
Al Ain: 03

Dubai: 04
Sharjah: 06
Ajman: 06
Umm Al Quwain: 06
Ras Al Khaimah: 07

3. Local Phone Numbers:
Local phone numbers consist of seven digits.

Putting it all together:

To call a landline number within the UAE, you would dial the area code followed by the local phone number (e.g., to call a number in Abu Dhabi, you would dial 02-xxxxxxx).
To call a mobile number within the UAE, you would dial the prefix "0" followed by the area code and the local phone number (e.g., to call a mobile number in Dubai, you would dial 050-xxxxxxx or 055-xxxxxxx).
To call the UAE from another country, you would dial your exit code (which varies depending on your country), followed by +971, the area code, and the local phone number. (eg +97192222596)

Additional Notes:

Mobile phone numbers in the UAE can start with either "050", "055", "052", "056".
Landline numbers are gradually being switched to use a leading "0" as well, though this is not yet universally implemented.
It's always best to double-check the specific phone number format before making a call, especially if you're unsure about the type of number (landline or mobile).
